Barky Pines Animal Rescue and Sanctuary, with Leadership Palm Beach County, is excited to announce its inaugural Puppy Love 5K Fun Run/Walk event.
Participants running or walking with their pets will begin at 8 a.m. The cost to participate in the 5K will be $25 if registered before February 1. Afterwards, the cost will increase to $35 per person. There are also virtual and group registration options. All registrations include a shirt and participation medal. Today, more than 400 homeless dogs, cats, puppies and kittens each day are cared for at the Soffer and Fine Adoption Center in North Miami Beach. We are able to give these animals a second chance by providing tender loving care, a good meal, shelter and medical care for as long as it takes to find them homes with kind, responsible and committed caregivers.
The organization works diligently at creating a more kind, just and loving community for the pets and people of Miami-Dade County. We offer programs and services to educate, inform and inspire people to take responsible care of their pets and treat animals with the kindness they deserve. With the support of people from across Miami-Dade County, we are helping to create a better community for all.
We run two veterinary clinics, one in North Miami Beach and another in Cutler Bay where we strive to end our community’s pet overpopulation problem by performing more than 16,000 sterilization surgeries each year.

Big Cat Rescue is an animal sanctuary in Tampa devoted to rescuing and housing exotic felids, rehabilatating injured or orphaned native wild cats, and ending the private trade and ownership of exotic cats via educational outreach and legislation. Pack Walk in the Park (group dog walk) is an opportunity to get some exercise (for you and your dog) and socialize with other dog owners (non-dog owners are welcome, too!). City of Tampa Search & Rescue K-9's and Handlers

The Tampa Police Department "employs" 22 police K-9's from six breeds trained in criminal captures, search and rescue, narcotic searches and bomb detection. The dogs go through an initial training program and are recertified each year through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
In fact, the K-9's live with their human partners and when they retire, they spend their golden years relaxing with their handler.
The Tampa Police Departments K-9 Unit is dedicated to the apprehension of criminal suspects. Its handler and dog team search capabilities are a valuable resource to street officers and to the community to which they serve.

ONE MORE DAY was born in 2016 to give back to dogs for all they give to us. One More Day fospice dogs come from shelters and rescue groups and each dog is a beloved individual. But they all have one thing in common: life-limiting illness.
Despite this, they are not suffering yet. They still have some life left to live and to enjoy, and that makes them candidates for hospice.

At Florida Animal Control Association Conference, We offered 3 full tracks, over 2 and a half days, to ensure that were truly had something for everyone. Our attendees were mostly animal control officers and law enforcement officers, but we also welcomed a variety of shelter workers, agency administrators, veterinarians, and attorneys. In addition to the standard CEU's made available by FACA, all conference sessions had also been pre-approved for Certified Animal Welfare Administrator continuing education credits by The Association for Animal Welfare Advancement. https://10times.com/faca

The Florida Chapter of The Wildlife Society Spring Meeting & Conference

The Florida Chapter of The Wildlife Society will hold its annual Spring Meeting. https://fltws.org/
The conference theme is Managing Florida’s Coastal Resources, but papers and posters dealing with any wildlife-related topic are encouraged, including ecology, economics, management, restoration, risk assessment, policy, evolutionary biology, and interdisciplinary projects. Continuing education credits will be offered for the meeting. Social events will include a networking social on Wednesday, poster session mixer, and the popular awards ceremony banquet dinner on Thursday. There will be a special pre-conference scavenger hunt by kayak on Wednesday morning. Friday includes your choice of three concurrent activities: a workshop on the use of 3D printing for science or one of two field trips to local natural areas. https://fltws.org/

Mote's Ocean Fest: A Community Celebration in Key West

Underwater and outdoor enthusiasts, ecotravelers and families are encouraged to celebrate the marine environment at Mote Marine Laboratory's annual event, Mote’s Ocean Fest: A Community Celebration. Proceeds and donations from the festival support Mote Marine Laboratory’s coral reef restoration and research programs. The family friendly fun will take place Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary's Eco-Discovery Center and Truman Waterfront (35 E Quay Rd, Key West, FL 33040) from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Join us for a day of fun, crafts, games, music, food, and shopping as we showcase our treasured marine environment while raising money for coral reef research and restoration. Mote’s Ocean Fest: A Community Celebration attendees can explore conservation and environmental exhibits, meet live animals and experience touch tanks, view and purchase wares from local marine artists and vendors, enjoy music, try their skill at active amusements and bid on silent auction items.
